Masshe central activity of our life is that we worship God. It is the source and inspiration for our energy in life and for our service to our community and is focused in particular in the Eucharist. We call our services "liturgy" - which is a Greek word meaning "the work of the people". We don't have to work hard at worshipping God but it is the most rewarding and uplifting work we do and we put quite a bit of effort into making our celebrations encouraging and beautiful. The Eucharist is the liturgy which Jesus Christ gave us to celebrate. In the Anglican tradition, we emphasise the balance between word and sacrament. It is the liturgy where Christ is present as we hear God's word in the bible read and in the preaching or reflections on the readings we have heard. It is often said that this is the "breaking open of the word". The Eucharist is also the liturgy where Christ is present when we make communion. Jesus said - "do this in remembrance of me" and through offering bread and wine we believe that they become the body and blood of Christ. All our liturgies (eg: Eucharist, Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals and more) are held at St Peter's and St Andrew's Church at 67 Darnley Street, Braybrook (Behind Caroline Chisholm Catholic College - Melways 27 B12) |
